The Nigerian Football Federation has decided to part ways with 68 year old Gernot Rohr after five years in charge of the Super Eagles.
A trophy-less tenure, despite so many star players has left fans unsatisfied and disappointed with the German. A bronze medal at the last super AFCON after a group stage exit from the 2018 World Cup deemed the beginning of the end for Rohr as the head coach of the Super Eagles.
The Super Eagles struggled in recent World Cup qualifiers in a group with teams they should beat easily, hereby emphasizing the fact that the German manager and his team lacked an identity on the pitch. Re-calling and old players like Ighalo and Musa have left lots of talent out of the team, hereby highlighting an issue of favoritism over ideal selections.
